- Analogue signals-
Signal types; transducers; data collection; ADC systems; conversion errors, aliasing, record length requirements; available systems.
- Pre-processing techniques -
validation; editing; calibration techniques; wild point and linear trend removal; synchronous time averaging; integration and differentiation.
- Spectral analysis -
Fourier analysis; the FFT; Power spectra, psd, g2/Hz; spectral leakage and windowing; choice of window function; averaging; frequency resolution;
- Frequency response function -
system characterisation, presentation and interpretation of results; inertance and mobility; Nyquist and Bode plots; H0, H1, H2; convolution.
- Coherence function-
properties and interpretation, use as FRF validation check; application for signal enhancement and source identification; coherent output power spectrum.
- Correlation analysis -
auto- and cross-correlation; relationship with power and cross spectrum; measurement of time delays, transmission paths and propagation materials;
digital computation errors.
- Multi-channel analysis -
Partial and multiple coherence; source ranking techniques.
